Failed try at SA 2022 recruiting

I was trying to get an SA position in IB for summer 2022. I am a junior that needs some sort of internship for next summer, and I want to get experience that would be similar or allow me to go into IB full time after graduation. What suggestions do you have for someone like me who needs to look in a different area than IB?

Many PE, VC and HF have later timelines than IB. Look at your schools job board, and there should be a lot of reputable firms still recruiting, assuming you’re at a target. Maybe also look into RE.

Either way though, just know that FT IB recruiting is pretty tough, even for those doing IB SA, which you’ll be competing for spots with. Something you may want to consider is delaying graduation and re-recruiting

There are still SA 2022 IB internships out there if you’re willing to put in the work. They won’t be bulge bracket banks but I know for a fact multiple MM firms are still in the thick of recruiting, same for smaller boutiques as well. I accepted an offer last week so I’m (unfortunately) very familiar with trying to break in this late in the game.

For my specific offer yes I did. For recognizable names I was lucky enough to have some solid connections. But in the last month I've gotten a good number of interviews from resume drops, zero networking.
