OTAs and travel tech (BKNG, EXPE, ABNB, etc.) I covered them a decade ago and it’s a pretty fascinating industry that’s been around for 30 years. Lots of idio opportunity while also higher macro exposure which makes it fun to trade as a basket.

Others I like are video games (hits based, fun consumer research), payroll software (competitive dynamics), and consumer fintech companies (unique GTM, disruption of legacy products).

Just for kicks it’d be great to be an expert in something very esoteric like Uranium mines, potassium/fertilizer, or waste management.

Digital content creation e.g. OF is one I was curious about (no, really I mean in the financial sense)

Cigarette companies like Phillip Morris as well maybe but that's just my two cents

covered that sector for two years, actually interesting to see the large-scale manufacturing ops, however, most of the large players all originate from 2-3 countries lol.

Casinos/Gambling

interesting psychological strategies used in business models to attract players, has to be among the 1st to come up with indicators of a downturn in economic cycles (less visits in Las Vegas), often tied to Real Estate which adds some creativity/synergy strategies, developing games/IP potential, and generally the business is fun, some go bankrupt in downturns which adds another fun aspect

lots of interesting cases also on casinos: Caesars/Trump Casinos
