Federal Reserve Bank?

I wanted to know more about working for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York is like. I have worked in Operations for a lover 5 years and the hours and unappreciated nature of the job is a bit disheartening. Plus, I know I am undervalued at the AM company I work for.

I have tried to apply for work to hedge funds or other AM companies but it feels like starting all over anew in a different place.

I am pursuing a CFA charter and thinking about doing a masters this year if the CFA postpones my test me again this year (postponed twice in 2020). These are trying times but I want to keep my options open as I don’t want to let my career stagnate.

In short, I have tried to move out of the operations side of AM with no luck. I learned that even a 3 year contract position at the Fed is more valuable than my current situation and it helps with a masters degree. Although it is for 3 years, I feel that within this time I can prepare myself for my next role either at the Fed or somewhere else.

Do you think that it is a wise career move to go to the Fed when my heart is in research analysis (it can be either security research, credit research or economic research)?

Please let me know your thoughts. Feel free to PM too.
