Fired as a 1st Year

Got fired, didn’t do anything serious, Was more of a took a sick day when I was not sick kind of thing Anyways, I got fired, but for some reason I’m doing so much better mentally ? Ive been able to sleep, visit family, enjoy my free time, not be stressed or anxious all the time. I’m looking for other jobs of course but it feels good to relax for a little. Only thing that has me worried is I’ve only got 3 months of savings worth of rent (excluding other expenses such as food and transportation), but I can work some other job in the meantime to make means. This job was very stressful and ultimately unhealthy. My mental and physical wellbeing severely deteriorated during my 7 month stint and I’m sort of glad I’m out of that toxic environment now. Anyways, happy new year to everyone ! Don’t be afraid to quit or stand up for yourself in your work environment!

Just curious, if you are a first-year analyst who quit what are you realistically pursuing now?

Sounds great, how tough do you think the job search will go and what would be the highest paying option?

I was laid off not even six months into my IB analyst program (a couple years ago now). Ended up getting a much better job at a small fund. My buddy went into IR though and he might have it even better. If you can spin it right you can make out pretty well. Spend some time with family and hit it hard at your next job. Hide the fake sick day better next time ;)

Virtually no one gets fired for cause. It exposes the firm to litigation risk (for no upside) and requires lots of behind the scenes paperwork. They'd rather just lay you off or make you quit. So it doesn't look good.

You won't know if you're actually better off until you find another gig. Maybe you're just wiley coyote running on air after going over a cliff....
