First Stage of Background Check?
Hi all, I recently accepted an offer from and am going through the background check conducted by CARCO. It has been over 5 weeks. Yesterday HR emailed me saying that I passed the first stage of background checks and can discuss the start date now. But it sounds like there'll be more stages of checks going on even after the start date.
I thought they could finish checking all the education, employment, criminal records, etc in 5 weeks. Does anyone know what else they check in the further stages of background checks?

One of my previous companies used Carco as well. Even after working at the firm, Carco called me to confirm the validity of an employer that I had listed.
Thank you! Did Carco just verify the positions you listed on the online background check form? I put a college TA role on my resume, but forgot to list it on the online form.
I'd put mine on both. However my was slightly out since it was an unpaid internship in a foreign country, so they wanted a point of contact to confirm my employment.
