Flying with a Suit
How do you guys travel for interviews? Do you wear your suit all day or do you find somewhere like an airport/restaurant bathroom to change after the flight? This is assuming the interview is just a day trip, so no hotel room to go to.
Flying with a suit on is very normal, I do it all the time. If youre flying first class they'll hang up your jacket for you. Just place it on your lap and you'll be fine.
Thanks CompBanker. This is for an internship interview, so I won't be getting first class unfortunately.
fly with it. most times they can hang your jacket even if you aren't sitting first class. otherwise, just fold it neatly and put it in the overhead bin if it isn't too full.
They'll usually hang your jacket in the first class closet if you ask. Just don't forget it when you walk off the plane.
like i did
Cons: - Uncomfortable - Soiling your shirt on long flights
Pros: - Less wrinkles - Picking up chicks at the airport / on the flight
Put it on a hanger and hold it with your arm out in the isle like a boss. Doing tricep cable pull downs helps.
I always fly with it in a bag, wear something comfortable on the plane, and carry that on. Even in coach they almost always will hang up your suit for you and then I change in an airport bathroom when I get there and change on my way back.
I would fly with it, I guess its just personal preference
just the thought of having to change into a suit in a restroom...what a hassle.
Depends on how much you value comfort on your flight and how much wearing a suit bothers you. Also depends on whether there's a huge gap of time between when you land and when you have the interview.
definitely just wear it on the flight and either hang it up at the front of the plane or fold it and hold on your lap/empty seat/overhead compartment.
you don't want to start worrying about finding a bathroom at the airport to change in with time to spare; nevermind the challenge of getting into a suit in an airport bathroom without getting anything nasty
^^^ yea pretty fucking much

Hello all
Thoughts on how to (safely) fit 5 suits into one bag??
Thanks!
Not to be rude, but how long is this travelling period? Why do you need to carry 5 suits? 2 would be acceptable. And how big is this bag of yours?
6 weeks!
any others?
I'd take a max of 3 suits and use the hotel dry cleaning service as needed.

I meant a way that doesn't really mess up the shoulders that would need a lot of work to clean.
3 is fine for an internship.
2 is fine for an internship.

Turn one sleeve inside-out, fit the shoulder pad of the other arm under the pad that you just turned inside out (although i don't like to put the "right-side" out sleeve inside the "inside-out" one; starts to get wrinkled) fold the outside sleeve over, and fold your jacket in half. I assume you are checking a bag; you should be able to get 5 suits + trousers and shirts into a standard rollaboard size.

my bad. let me take the to its logical conclusion; "0 is fine for an internship" so just pack a bathing suit and get paid to hang out by the pool. No one wants a career in banking anyway!
edit: In fact, you should just drop your internship, buy a few "witty" tees-shirts, and move out to Silicon Valley and work for a tech start-up because, let's face, you are a millennial and are owed a 6 figure salary based on the fact of your existence! Isn't that how this game works?
....and then after that, someone was supposed to say "butt-naked is fine for an internship."
LOLLLLLLL
Granted I'm not a consultant who travels a lot/has impressive folding and packing techniques, but if you're willing to shell out some cash, I've personally found suit/garment bags to be useful. I've never traveled with 5 suits, but I've used a Travel Pro Maxlite rolling garment bag for 2-3 suits and I've never had problems. They last years, and you'll use them progressively more as you become more senior.
HONESTLY?!?!?!
If you have to ask an online forum about how to bring a fucking suit (anywhere) or how many you should bring for X amount of weeks - lord have mercy on your hiring manager.

How do you guys pack your suits on airplanes? I need to bring 2 suits somewhere and I cant wear both of them.
Garment bags are geat for bringing an extra suit
I would definitely agree with the previous poster and either go with a garment bag, or a garment suitcase, that will allow you to carry your suits plus some additional clothing, essentials, etc. The one I picked up from Tumi can hold 2-3 suits, and several other little essentials and clothing - it's also a carryon as I hate checking bags.

Is it true some airlines ahve a place by the front where you can hang your suit?
Some planes do. It's hit or miss.
business and first class have closets. give your suit to the attendant. otherwise, garment bag, folds up and keeps your suit relatively crease-free
I would really rather not buy a garmet bag just for one trip
It's not for one trip though. If you buy a nice garment bag, you've got it for years. And if you are getting into this business, you will definitely be glad you have one already.

wear the second suit over the first one.
Leave the hanger on the suit, then roll it upwards. It will then fit into a carry on bag, and won't be creased. Also, it helps to hang the suit on the towel rack in the bathroom when you take a shower to get the small wrinkles out.
Yeah rolling the suit is good if you just want to bring it in your suitcase. Thats what I always did and no one could tell. If need be put it in the bathroom for 15 minute with the shower on (full heat of course). This will get rid of any wrinkles in your suit/dress shirt.
agree with iambateman -- nordstrom also provides a decent garment bag when you buy a jacket/suit
I've in the past used the garment bags that come with the suit. You can also pack in in a bag... DONT EVER ROLL YOUR SUIT. Fold it: pants separately and jacket separately. Fold you jacket in half vertically then again in half horizontally.
Use a garbage bag! I hear Glad makes strong ones, with strings!
So if you use a garment bag to carry the suit on to the airplane, where do you put the garment bag? Lay it on top of other ppl's carry on luggages?
dont put the garment bag on other pple's carry-ons, it will move around during the flight and end up being cramped into some corner. better to extend your arm and hold out the suit into the aisle for the duration of the flight.
srsly, if you talk to one of the flight attendants i'm sure they can do somehthing for you/find somewhere to hang your most-likely-cheap-p.o.s.-polyester-alfani suit.
jackdaniels, fuck you.
