What kind of firm is that making you fly in on your own dime?
I agree with cheese86. What king of firm would make you pay. Sounds kinda sketchy. I've always been redirected to HR or a travel agent for them to book my flights. I never had to whip out a credit card except for cabs and food, of which I was reimbursed ~1-2 months later.
It is a firm similar to RBC/HSBC
they should be paying. but i guess not
If you can find a really cheap ticket then you should fly in. However, if you're gonna have to empty your bank account, I'd say it's not worth it. If it's a firm around the size of RBC/HSBC and they're not even gonna bother paying your travel expense, that shows a lack of respect for you especially if you're a student.
