Fresh Off of the Education Boat

I am currently going into second year commerce, and my experience consists of working in an office unrelated to finance as a summer intern. I want to get into a finance related positions but it is very difficult to get my foot through the door anywhere finance related without any finance experience.

What are your best bets to pop a finance cherry and get your foot through the door? Are networking events and e-begging on LinkedIn the key? Or simply just knowing somebody?
