Freshman Internships for CC Student
I'm a student at a community college who's planning on transferring to a semi-target/target next year but in the meantime what kind of internships can I get for my freshman summer that might help me for IB SA recruiting when the time comes?
I know my prospects are probably limited coming from CC but I was hoping I might be able to find something unpaid in PWM/Asset Management/real estate. Will I be discriminated against based on my background? Do I even really need an internship for freshman summer?

No... if you work harder then everyone else imaginable by constantly e-mailing, sending thank you cards, and so on. You have to be there more than the competition.

I'm a freshman at a non-target and worked at an internship for a boutique investment management firm over the winter, and I've been invited back to continue over the summer to intern with heavier involvement with their investment advisory team.
I landed my internship through networking and saying the right things.
You should do what I did and just network your ass off, and start reading books on finance/investing in your spare time. You're a freshman so you're in the same boat as me, and I haven't taken a single accounting/finance/management class yet (starting them this semester), and just had two economics courses under my belt. Reading everyday is what landed me my spot.
So do you think it's possible get anywhere through cold emailing/calling? Unfortunately my 'alumni base' is pretty limited as of now so I'm still working on finding contacts/sneaking into info seminars at other schools haha.
