Freshman Summer Internship Ideas

Hi all, I am currently a freshman majoring in Business at UT Austin. I live in Chicago, and I am now considering apply for internships this summer. I am interested in all fields of finance and/or real estate. What are some firms that offer internships and isn’t too competitive?

Explore smaller boutique-like firms around you. Perhaps a small private wealth management firm, or a retail bank, or firm that provides capital for commercial real estate projects. Ask your parents or your friends parents if they have any connections to people who can help get your foot in the door. My dad's college roommate became pretty high up at citizens bank and helped me get my first internship there. It wasn't like a real internship program but I still got some good experience as a 19 year old.
