Full-time IB analyst?

Just curious that how many banks are actually recruiting for full-time investment banking analyst?

I mean, after they take in the interns, would there still be positions opened for new candidates? If yes, what would be my best shot in landing one of those?

Thanks!

Pre-crisis there was a lot of FT recruiting. Now most banks who do recruit do informal accelerated interviews for people who interned in IBD at another bank and got an offer there. Last year to my knowledge the following BB firms recruited FT that I know of besides the aforementioned accelerated interviews: DB, Citi (Chicago & NYC), Wells Fargo (Mostly Charlotte, some NYC/SF), GS (I heard they had a huge superday for one spot this past fall), MS (Chicago (12 person superday for one spot this past fall in Chi)).

In addition, the big MM firms (Baird, Blair, HL, etc) typically always recruit FT since many of their interns leverage their MM FT offer into other offers. You will also see boutiques such as FT Partners doing recruiting.

The big thing though is that these FT superdays are much more competitive than a typical intern superday in that the ratio to candidates:offers is much lower. Also, if you did not do a solid IB internship in the past summer, you will be at a huge disadvantage to the kids leveraging IB offers from their internship.

The point here is that FT recruiting is scarce these days. Do not count on being able to get a FT recruiting offer unless it is leveraging MM FT return offer -> low tier BB (much more doable) or low tier BB return offer -> top BB offer (incredibly difficult but possible).
