Gapping to recruit again
Incoming intern that signed at a MM (exploding offer that was very early) thinking about taking a gap to recruit again. Is this something that is looked down upon or has anyone done this before

By "Incoming Intern", I'm assuming this is for SA 2022: just keep recruiting and renege on the MM if you sign somewhere better. I personally looked down on the CVs that were sent my way for my group's recruiting cycle this year, since it creates unfair competition. This was actually something the 2 MDs discussed during this cycle's Super Day when they were trying to decide between 3 candidates. 1 of the 2 who we did not give an offer was a gap year student who didn't have a good enough explanation on their decision (he just bullshitted family reasons etc.)
Thanks for this. What if the reason is you got a term-time internship? I'm trying to avoid reneging (just don't want to risk it)
Is the issue the gap year, or the fact that you already recruited once and got an offer? I'm in the same situation with a MM offer but I'm a rising sophomore who planned to graduate early but am now thinking I'll do the normal 4 years.

What is a gap year? People doing this junior year internship and then not going back to school for senior year and then recruiting for another junior year internship before their “delayed” senior year?
Agree, wtf is a gap year in the recruiting context
Also interested. Currently a rising senior interning at a F100 in corporate finance and considering coming back for an extra semester to recruit for SA 2022. Since COVID I was given the option to return for that extra semester. Wondering thoughts on this.
