Goldman Sachs background check confusion

Recently got a job offer from GS. In the documentation regarding background check it says: "Your GPA from each school you attended (you have a 0.5 cushion, if you do not remember your GPA, please enter 00)." What does 0.5 cushion mean? If that means 3.5 - 4.0 is within the cushion, it sounds crazy... Also, were anyone background checked by GS? Seems they are using the third party company CARCO, for which I heard from someone that they are really slow...it even took 7 weeks for one of my friend working at GS...

Thanks!

Was this offer for FT or SA? They use Carco for SA and I just started my background check. I've heard that they do take typically between 4-6 weeks though could easily be longer than if they want more info. You'll read of some guys on here having waited for over 2 months before they're told they passed the check. I'm curious if they're requesting that you submit a transcript?

I think the cushion refers to the .xxx of the GPA. Like 3.75 vs using the cushion to state 3.8. Or they could be saying we don't care if there's a slight discrepancy between your resume and transcript and application as long as it's within a .50 range of each other. Just imho. Though I'd be interested in getting an exact definition for GS considering my overall GPA could use a boost which is why I put down my major GPA.

Asked my friend, one spent 2 weeks on background check and the other unfortunately took 7 weeks...sounds horrible..I also have international background/experience which will definitely take longer.

hey buddy, just wish to know did they ask you to, and (if yes) how do you provide ref for all activities/certificates you got OFF campus? Thx.

Does GS check all education background including secondary school like grade 10 and 12?
