Have a final interview with MBB. Have a question.

Hi all. I have a final interview (lateral hire, but from ER) with an MBB firm (Asian office). Last interview of the final round (will have had 4 interviews total). At this point, am I practically a shoo in unless I mess up a lot, or is this interview still make or break? Regardless, I'd still be trying my best.

Yeah I did a bit of research after I posted this, and some people have been saying that you have a 50% chance of making it if you've done the final round interviews. Just wondering how the chances are in Asia.

I interviewed for a FT position for MBB coming from a non-target and doing a BB IB summer sting. Everything went ok, it was all case questions and then as soon as I left the building I got a call saying I lacked polish and it would be a no. I asked about the other candidates (I was the only non-target there) and no one else got a position either! I was surprised and on good terms with the recruiter so I asked her why and she told me that they really dont hire a lot and unless it is a 10/10 from everyone that conducted the interviews, it was going to be a no. Luckily, the did say I could come back in a few weeks to try again as they liked me as a person, just did not like my execution.

Did not go back as I accepted FT role from BB. Your best bet is to use all the resources in the room they put you in. If your interview was like mine you get 3 small cases and 1 big case. The three small cases are all verbal, as in the interviewer just gives you a scenario and you need to come up with a solution to the problem on the spot. The long case takes about an hour and a half and you present to a partner or someone more senior. You are given a whiteboard, sheets of paper, etc but I did not use anything. In hindsight, and after watching videos about how to prepare for consulting interviews as I had no preparation at all, use the whiteboard, use the markers, use the sheets of paper, and only focus on what you believe is the most important part of solving the problem, not the entire problem itself.

Congratulations on coming this far! You should know only 1 out of 10 people who interview make it that far.

The final rounds are the hardest and the most important. That's where a partner is asking himself if he can put you on his team or in front of his clients. The fact that you passed the first few rounds means you deserve to be there.

This is your game to lose. Work on any feedback you have received so far because they will be checking if you did.
