Have Been Networking Without Results

Hi All,

Been lurking for a while but never posted. I am a May 2018 graduate and have been trying to break into finance since graduation. For background, non-target, 3.2 GPA, & have held two internships: one as a financial analyst at a mid sized media firm and one at a boutique broker/dealer. I have been networking since graduation with hopes of getting my foot in the door. My problem is that the advice I have received from alumni has been very general. The people I have spoken to say things like "target smaller firms" or "look for jobs that are related to finance and then try to pivot." I always frame my initial cold email as I am looking for advice and never try to push them for a job but I feel like time is running out and I need to do something. Would love some advice on how to best approach finding a job any job in finance. For context, I am a first generation American and worked almost full-time during college, so my ability to deal with a lot of pressure & bullshit is high. I am confident in my abilities to do the work, but I am lacking in my connections and finding the right person to give me a shot.

Thanks!
