Having Terrorism on Your Resume
Do business schools negative screen for words in resumes?
Not my current role, but I had worked in counterterrorism for my nation's government. Many of the bullets in my resume use words like "narcotics trafficking", "cartels", "terrorist", and "terrorism", all of which I am worried about getting scanned by a bot screener. In context, all of this makes sense so as long as it's a real person I'm not too worried.
This has got to be one of the best topic headers to ever exist on this site
Looks like my WSO rank post was quickly outdone, this is hilarious
that's what i was thinking
Nah
We're Hiring, Are you ready for a new challenge? Apply here:
Broker - Counter Terrorism

I mean I’d 100% interview you even if you were the least qualified candidate. Way too interesting to not learn more.
I highly doubt they negative screen like that. It’s not like they’re getting applicants from Al Quaida or Boko Haram on the reg lol
We should get a thread ranking these two for comp/wlb/exit/prestige
Its a tough gig. I was a former associate at ISIS and its really difficult when your firm goes down. The recruiting channels are all blown up and everyone is looking for a new role. I wasn't able to lateral because all my superiors took the open associate roles at other groups.
Might not get you an interview at Blackstone, but I'm sure Blackwater would be interested
B-school admissions departments are pretty stupid but I'm not sure they'd be that stupid.
Further, you really wouldn't want to be at a school that allowed that to happen.
This makes you far more interesting, imo.
Wasn’t sure where tf this was going by the title
...phew
I’m sure that people have seen similar at banks. We all have compliance departments including KYC/AML.
I believe this counts under DEI now.
The wrong kind of DEI! It's supposed to be document & entity information on a Q or K! Talk about appropriation gone wrong...
This would be a +1 for most applications... very interesting experience. Highly doubt they will have any such screeners enabled
Take off the counter and you'll be hired immediately at McKinsey
Wherever you've put it on your CV, just next to it write: see bottom left.
Bottom left:Be very careful of what you do and do not do of this resume
Why banking? "I just really like deals"
Why LA? "Proximity to Mexico"
Hobbies? "I ski"
.
Lmao one of my best buds in B school worked in anti-terrorism/hostage negotiation for the government at one of his pre-MBA jobs. He still got in even with that on his resume, you're fine.
Oh my I wondered where this was going
I think terrorist firms would reject you, sorry
.
I mean it makes you intriguing… if anything it’s flag you for security reasons lol. You forsure won’t be left in the wayside
Depends on the nation
Remove "counter" and HSBC will definitely take you on as a client.
As a former CT guy, I’ll offer that unless you’re applying to “Last Chance U of Kabul” to become a Zawahiri scholar, you should be ok.
You could probably highlight it for hedge fund interviews. I bet Aurelius would consider this a positive.
It shouldn't be an issue, as long as you remember to rush B first...
Are you applying to Dick Cheney's family office?
