/help\ finding a job
Hi,
I am (M23) from Europe. Currently at the MSRE at NYU, graduating soon. Have about 1.5 years experience in big firms for RE . 3.9 GPA. Good undergrad busines school. Good extracurricular.
Applied to over 100+ jobs. Not a single call back . Not even from random firms in the middle of Ohio. Been networking and cold calling a bunch of people . Still not a single answer or even smallest interview.
Am I the only one struggling that bad ?do you have any tips / advice ?
Do my profile sucks or is it juste the market being too bad rn ?
Should I defer my graduation to land in the job market at a better time ?
Bump

just got a new account here, need to wait 2 days before I can PM someone, will do as soon as i can

Seems to be the same situation for most candidates right now. What types of roles are you looking at?
First choice was acquisition equity side. But at this point, I would do anything and I have quite a wide range of skills and experiences. So anything direct or indirect, listed or private, AM or investment, could even be equity research on REITs. Anything but property manager basically.
Hey also at NYU, graduating soon. You have to reach out to people at the firm you apply to otherwise you don't even get a look.
Example, for my current internship only 5 people were interviewed. I applied through the job portal and when I got to my company saw my resume wasn't even downloaded from there in their files. The only reason I interviewed is because I emailed someone directly, asked to get on a call and sent my resume to them.
If you need a visa this may also make it tough since a lot of firms don't want to take on that extra cost.
Yea that’s true. I try doing that whenever I can find the hiring manager email, but that doesn’t happen too often.
The most crazy part is back in undergrad I would get the interview from the big guys like Blackstone (London branch for summer analyst AM) . And now can’t even hear back from a random family office in Ohio.
