Help w/ Career Aspirations

Currently a college student at a non target w a 4.0, who ultimately wants to go into investment banking but I’m also cautious based on the skepticism that people project.

So just what to evaluate what other options would be optimal in terms of $

What other entry level jobs are less competitive than IB but still provide a similar salary as well as pros/ cons

Thanks so much,

If you got the skills, i would say going into software development, looking at asset management firms or even taking a stab at breaking into trading would all be good options to get paid basically the same (/more at the start of your career in many cases across software and trading). if you just want to avoid the hours, there's always corp-fin.

If you do see yourself having a career in IBD, PE or HFs though, you should really be looking to start in IBD or a very, very good buy side shop. Lateraling to any of these field without having the "traditional" path into them is p rare.
