How did you guys figure out exactly what you want do in Finance and advice?

So basically my question here is how did you guys figure out what you wanted to do in a field that is so diverse and always changing and any advice that you may have.

Background:

I am a current junior at non target ACC school double majoring in accounting and finance with a minor in business analytics. I will either graduate in May 2023 or December 2022 (if I take two classes next summer ). The problem here is my GPA is 3.38. In terms of experience I am currently interning at a small CPA firm in town that does mainly tax and consulting and I will be able to stay there as long as I wish.  I was originally dead set on the traditional Big 4 accounting route with interning at Big 4 in between getting my Macc and undergrad and then sitting for the CPA  at the conclusion of my Macc. But, after I actually got into the accounting major I realized I do not actually like accounting that much. It is not fast paced enough for me. So I decided to try to start looking at a career/internship in finance. But the problem is I decided this a little too late to recruit for anything decent  with my shitty GPA for next summer. I realized that I may be kind of screwed because of it especially when it comes to networking. In terms of opportunities for next summer I have a couple of interviews set up with some smaller banks and hedge fund auditor. Do you guys have any advice on companies to look at?  I am considering trying to go to my schools MSF I know that they place decent now in some different fields.

After doing more research, I really do not know what I want to do. How did you guys figure it out? I have friends that are going into IB or PE and it seems like they knew from the moment they came out of the womb they wanted to be in a particular area in finance.
