How do prospective employers verify past job performance?
Hey Monkeys, how does an employer verify whether you were successful in bringing new relationships to the bank at your current role? I work in Commercial Banking as a Relationship Manager where I've been successful in meeting my targets, but how does the prospective employer (BB Private Bank) actually verify this? Do they take my word for it? Do they call my Manager or my bank's HR department? I don't want my current employer to find out I am interviewing.
If a candidate is who they are, they will have mutual contacts within the industry. So, say, in VC there are a few people who know me, who have worked with me before on investments and word gets around. No need to speak to their line manager. VC is one of the areas where you can see the deals someone worked on and the outcome is obvious.
Also, the internet... you can see how many mutual connections someone would have or if they know the people via LinkedIn or similar networks. A really good recruiter or HR person would also know how to connect the dots on a potential hire.
