How do you guys network?

I’m currently a junior in college and have an upcoming valuations internship for this summer. Looking to eventually get into the acquisitions/AM side of things when going into full time recruitment. What recommendations do you guys have for me in order to start networking into one of these positions.

How can I actually get a person at a firm to recommend me/push my resume? Would I have to prove myself first? If so, how?

How can I create a true connection with them if the ultimate goal is to get their help?
