How important is it to actually graduate in December?
I'm looking to apply to 2025 full-time analyst programs. Nearly all of them require a graduation date of either winter 2024 or summer 2025 understandably. I'm technically able to graduate this summer, however I want to be eligible for these programs. Can I graduate this summer or should I actually delay my graduation for these?
Based on previous WSO threads, delaying your graduation to align with the eligibility requirements for full-time analyst programs can be a strategic move. Here are some key points to consider:
Eligibility for Programs: Many full-time analyst programs require a graduation date of either winter 2024 or summer 2025. Graduating this summer might make you ineligible for these opportunities.
Networking and Opportunities: Delaying graduation can give you more time to network and secure internships or other relevant experiences, which can strengthen your application for full-time roles.
Internship Experience: If you haven't secured a full-time offer yet, taking an additional semester to gain more experience through internships can be beneficial. This can also increase your chances of receiving a return offer from a summer internship.
Market Perception: Graduating in line with the typical recruitment cycles can make you a more attractive candidate to employers who are looking for candidates available to start at specific times.
In summary, if your goal is to be eligible for the 2025 full-time analyst programs, it would be wise to delay your graduation to winter 2024 or summer 2025. This will align your graduation date with the requirements of these programs and potentially enhance your candidacy.
