How Important is Networking for PE Recruiting?
Seems like most MM/UMM/MF PE recruiting happens with the use of headhunters. I was wondering how important networking with bank/undergrad alumni is. Specifically, what does the strategy look like to go from mid-BB to UMM/MF PE. Of course, being in a top group and having strong deal/modeling exposure are a must. I'm wondering what else would potentially give an edge to candidates, assuming that getting looks from HHs won't be an issue at a BB. Out of things like connections at the firm, undergrad GPA, test scores, previous internships, interest in PE...which ones are the most heavily weighted?
