How is Paradigm Capital (Toronto) regarded?

Hey WSO! I'm a student having an interview with Paradigm Capital in Toronto next week for the Winter CO-OP term. Apart from the fact that they mainly focus on energy and mining sectors, there is not much information I can find on their website or anywhere else.

Anyone has an insight? How is their interview style? How technical can the questions get? How is the firm viewed comparing to other boutiques?

Much appreciated!

There have been a lot of changes there over the past year or two so things are a little different there now. I would say it's generally regarded as a fine place and they also have a relatively active tech practice if I recall. I haven't seen them on any advisory in a while but they'll clip some small syndicate positions here and there on the equity side. Sorry I don't have much insight on the actual interviews but good luck.

I did an interview for a co-op position there ~1 year ago. Typical IB interiew questions, tell me about yourself, previous experiences etc. In terms of technicals IRC: cashflow questions i.e tell me how you calculate free cash flow (indirect/direct methods), walk me though a DCF, tell me how you calculate WACC. Also had to quickly give a short-sell pitch and a brain teaser at the end.
