How soon is it acceptable to dip out of your first job?

I recently started out of college as a buyside analyst in the AM industry. I am purposely being vague as my role is pretty niche.

I do not like my job. I find our investment style boring, culture is weird (people are friendly but keep each other at arm's length), and I'm not a huge fan of the city we're based in. I have a decent amount of responsibility but I am not developing valuable skills the way I'd like (modeling, etc.) People in this industry tend to stay there and I do not want to, so I am trying to leave ASAP. However I started a month ago.

I have heard its a bad look to last <1 year in a role, but how much is too much. Can I lateral out in the 6 month-1 year mark? My firm is well connected so not trying to burn any bridges but I'm not happy here and do not want to be stuck in this industry.

I know where I want to be - Buyside L/S covering a specific sector I really enjoy. I am considering all paths there - equity research, IB, consulting, etc. If I get one of these offers in the next few months you'd say its fine to leave? Would firms even hire me for lateral with such little ft experience?

Nothing wrong with switching things up if it’s not right for you but you’ve been there a month? Unless someone is asking you to do something unethical/illegal you absolutely should not leave that soon. I honestly don’t think you would even be able to articulate wanting to leave/doing something else in an interview with a different employer - you just don’t know enough. I think around 6-9 months you could maybe start setting up interviews and by the time those processes end (and the election is over, you could be somewhere else) In theory you don’t have to leave it in your resume leaving this early but you aren’t even giving it a chance. Is this your first job? I would try to get as close as you can get to a year before heading out. Everyone’s going to have parts of their job they aren’t necessarily jazzed about but that’s part of life. No one is saying you have to do it forever, but what happens when the next interesting you think you want is boring? Do you leave in two months? I think you owe it to yourself to stick around longer and try to figure out what things you can pick up and then re-evaluate later. What are you actually doing on a day to day? Is anything transferable? If I was an employer I would absolutely stay away from someone who left their job after a month barring some extreme/unusual circumstances (which doesn’t seem to be the case here)
