How to Come Off As More Dynamic and Enthusiastic

I'm someone who doesn't show a very large range of emotions when I'm talking. Some people describe me as calm, poised, relaxed, etc., but I'm realizing that people are not able to pick up on my enthusiasm and often think I'm uninterested. I've gotten the impression that I've even made people uncomfortable by not being completely uninhibited, wacky, overly expressive, etc in social situations. How can I change this? On the one hand, I feel like my personality is pretty set at this point in my life. Would taking acting or improv classes help?

Anyone out there with a similar personality who has developed effective ways to communicate their emotions when people can't easily pick up on them?
