How to go from finance to software engineer?

For those of you who have gone from traditional finance (in school and the start of your career) and then moved to some sort of tech/software engineering job, how did you do it?

I'm two years into a traditional finance job at an RIA, but if I could do school all over again then I'd completely change my major to comp sci. Now I feel like I'm too late. I'm a quick learner and consider myself really smart, but I don't quite have the time to study programming like I feel I would need to in order to break into tech. Please any tips or advice?
