How to leverage Dad in S&T

My dad is a managing director in sales and trading at a prestigious bank

I’m recruiting for Investment banking this year, how can I leverage this? It seems like he knows people but not a lot in investment banking so just curious what the beta route is.

For reference I go to an Ivy.

Why not just recruit at his bank? If he's good enough, he will have sway with a referral/able to essentially get you in the door as a nepo hire.

I don’t want to work at his bank, and it is more of an international bank (still has presence here in the US) but not a super top one if that makes sense.

Well, you're simply just hurting yourself here. If you have a otherwise guaranteed entry, I'd take it.

Most of this forum won't really speak highly on nepotism hires, so I wouldn't expect much here. But just recruit as normal. Not saying this just because of the consensus on nepo hires, but you really shouldn't rely on it.

You really don't want to be known as that nepo kid if you don't have to. 9/10 nepo kids I've met through my prev stunts have been 3/10-5/10 candidates at best. You won't be taken too seriously by most analysts and associates.

I also think this is a conversation you should just have personally with your father, don't put your business out there if you don't need to.
