How to pivot from Equity Research to literally any role with deal flow?

2nd year ER associate (analyst for the uninitiated) desperately trying to pivot to something more exciting/transactional/team-oriented. My main issue is that I don’t have a finance degree, I’m definitely non-target, and I didn’t have a particularly awesome GPA. My degree is petroleum engineering from a middle of the country (where the actual people live) state school, I was hired from an energy consulting/data analytics firm directly into O&G research. I recently flamed out of the PE interview process (Doesn’t hurt to try right?). And now considering something like strategic IR. Basically I’m going crazy in ER and very much want something in deal flow where your job changes sometimes and you interact with other humans much more frequently. Also, I know ER experiences are highly dependent on the type of guy the analyst/MD you work for is and I can honestly say I might work fewer hours in IB than ER. Any other ER associates regularly 7:30am-11:00pm (7:00am-2:00am+ during earnings season) with consistent weekend work?

What are realistic dealflow exit opps for someone with my resume? Anyone had success pivoting ER to IB before?
