Hustling and need some solid advice
Hey everyone,
Been out of school about a month now, and so far things not looking really up for me.
I have been hustling to meet people, setting up informational interviews, coldemailing and applying online.
Applying online has been a black hole for me and always just leaves me feeling like shit (100+ apps and 0 responses so far)
Cold-emailing has yielded a decent response (1 out of 6) but always comes back to no openings. The one shot I had so far was a corp dev role which I got destroyed despite prepping a week for a case interview...
informational interview responses from coldemails are (1/6 usually) but after the chat when I ask for referrals/ other contacts, it always come back to I'll let you know if something comes up/ I'll get back to you.
I don't know what else I can do. I have a meeting with the president of one of the largest RE PE funds in the world later today. I feel like I'm doing something wrong (on WSO, you all say it sounds desperate to ask for a job directly but the internships I got were both from coldemails.) In the informational interviews I've done so far, I feel like beating around the bush and not getting to the point by not pitching myself.
Maybe I'm wrong but I need some solid advice on what to do. Thanks.
What caliber school? How was your GPA? Why didn't you secure a full time offer earlier before graduation? What were your internships in? Why didn't your junior year internship convert into a full-time job? I know networking is the big go-to solution to every problem on this forum but sometimes it can only do so much for you...
Semi-target finance undergrad in Canada, 3.3 gpa, got into game late and didn't land any internships via school, got my shit together in 4th year and landed a PWM internship (part-time during school) at a MM and then interned in IBD at a boutique summer after graduating (told at start, too small for FT offers). Originally went to do a MSF at a target in EU (got interviewed with JPM for MO/Risk) but due to some unforeseen circumstances had to drop out so came back in Canada looking for FT now.
Et et aliquid sed fuga a cumque. Eos sed perferendis atque voluptas.
