I know a guy who's a president at MF PE firm. How can I leverage this connection?

I'm an incoming IB analyst at a BB. I'm not at all familiar with how PE recruiting works. I know headhunters contact you and get you interviews? Could I just have this guy help me secure an interview or do PE firms not work like that? Thanks.

Probe first. Share your interest in finance with him and let him know that you’d be interested in going into PE. Ask him what their recruiting process is like and how you can prepare for PE. If you’re close with this guy, have a casual conversation with him. He’ll pick up on it.
