What are the prospects for getting an investment banking job (preferably M&A) in Philadelphia? Based on some quick internet research it seems like some of the BBs are there but not all, and its hard to know what groups/departments would be there. This would be for a post-MBA Associate position.

most of the BBs are actually private wealth management offices or private client services. IBD in philly is limited but I think Harris Williams, BBH and possibly a handful of others are in Philly.
did you checked the sticky post with the regional ibs? pick some companys out and contact them for the information you need.
checbk - Yes, I saw that. I'm not ready to start my job search or anything (don't have the MBA yet), but trying to get a more qualitative sense of the market. Although based on that list of (mostly) names I've never heard of, I guess it must not be that good.

yes, there are a lot of unheard-of firms on that list. But just check their websites for a varification on how big they are.

HW is there, I think it may be growing. I met one of the MDs who opened that office, very cool guy but he's now back in Richmond.
yeah, there aren't any huge firms there or anything, but there are quite a few boutiques and such. PM me if you want a fuller list (other than what's on the sticky).
Can anyone comment on the comp, lifestyle (hours/travel), dealflow, and exit opps at the boutiques in Philly? Particularly in comparison to BB/Street? Is the business more local/regional, or do they still do deals all over?

Susquehanna international group is headquartered there. but not downtown philly.. in bala cynwyd. they have most of their trading desks there and they do have a growing ibd dept there..
