if you ghosted a job, should u message them?

There was a guy who was proposing me to join his project, i told him that i will join him. We were on calls frequntly dicussing how we gonna launch the project, etc.

And then i had a trouble in my personal life and my permament job, so was stressed out and just didnt find any motivation to be proactive about it. And i stopped messaging him, just ghosted. And at first he was trying to message me first, but then i feel like he understood that i didnt have any motivation and also stopped measaging me.

Its been like 7 weeks already since then, is that worth me to message him? just at least to not look like a complete moron or better not?

By all means message and apologise, but do it knowing full well that the bridge you spent building has been well and truly incinerated to ash.

It takes 60 seconds to write “Hi, sorry, I’m going through very difficult personal issues at the moment so will have to pause what we’ve been discussing. I can’t say how long I’ll be away for and understand if you want to move forward, but I appreciate the time.”

Nothing anyone will ever go through, short of falling into a coma or waking up in a war zone, excuses this kind of blatant disrespect.
