Internship Advice for F500 FLDP
I'm trying to get into a F500 FLDP program (Siemens, Lockheed, CSX, etc.) after I graduate next spring. So my question is, would a wealth management internship with UBS (where I really don't do much besides clerical work) be better than an investment analyst position with a real estate firm I've never heard of (Marcus & Millichap, they claim to be the nation's largest commercial real estate investment services firm)? I'm already a wealth management intern at a no name firm in the area, so I'm guessing UBS on the resume won't look much different, aside from the name.
None of those internships will really be applicable to an FLDP program. In an FLDP program you will be rotating between FP&A, program finance, audit, accounting, etc.
Alright thanks, I'll look into accounting or auditing internships then. If I can't land one for some reason, would you have a pick between the 2 I mentioned?
I would get into investment analysis.
To be totally honest either position is acceptable for an F500 FLDP program. The trick is getting your foot in the door if you don't go to a school where they recruit (mid to large sized, well regarded state school). I have friends who've gotten FLDP offers with minimal work experience if they were able to put a decent resume together and interview well.
I'm an MBA student at the same school as you and work for one of the large employers in the area... My advice is neither internship. The FLDP is primarily accounting based and they prefer accounting students who are interested in sitting for CPA. They have ~10 spots and at least 5 are filled by current interns/coops. They also have already gone through recruiting for the remaining spots. Feel free to PM for more info.
