Internship background check

Does anybody know what kind of criminal background check JPM runs for interns? I have a super day coming up and would like to run a one on myself just in case I have some unpaid traffic tickets somewhere.

Running Background Checks On Yourself

Background checks are not something you can do on yourself.

They happen in two parts:

  • Calling References: They will call previous employers, professors, high schools. They will confirm dates of attendance, salary, performance, etc.
  • Background Check: Here they look into your financial and criminal history. They are checking to see if you’ve ever filed for bankruptcy, or been convicted on a felony. They are not concerned with your parking tickets or other aspects of your personal finances.

Its not a check you can run on yourself. The background check can be broken into two parts. One is them calling your references -- like previous employers -- and your college/high school to verify your dates of attendance, salary, etc.

The other half is checking your financial and criminal history. As long as you haven't declared bankruptcy, your financial history is fine. A parking ticket isn't going to raise any red flags. Jail time, on the other hand, might!

No, that's not what they are looking for. They will send you forms to fill out once you hopefully have an offer. They usually even state that you should disclose any criminal history NOT including minor traffic related events/tickets or transgressions as a minor.

If a ticket would hold you back from a job, no one would have a job!

anthony11will they check current employers? I'm at UBS and my boss will prob be pissed if JP Morgan calls asking questions about me. Need help ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!1

They will ask if on the form whether they can or cannot call your current employer. No worries.

I have gone through background checks in IB and post-IB. They're all relatively the same. You provide a list of the addresses where you've lived the past ten years, all educational history (where you have received degrees, not where you've taken one or two random classes), and ten years of employment history. You will usually simultaneously be given an appointment to go take a drug test. There is nothing to prepare.
