Internships from Ireland

Can someone please tell me the best ways to get internships and Spring weeks in IB BB in London and how to pad up my CV to make sure I get these? (I am still in secondary school) Also what are some internships that could be done in Ireland to compliment an IB CV?

BBs in Dublin are almost entirely tech and engineering or back/middle office functions. If you’re looking at IB you essentially have to go to London, apart from a handful of very small investment banking boutiques in Dublin.

What year are you in? For now, I’d say whatever secondary school interests you can build up, e.g. sports, volunteering is definitely a great one, captain of debate team, music exams/performances, Gaeltacht cinnire, part-time job, pretty much any leadership position in a club is a good start.

I think you’re overthinking it though. The biggest points on my CV for spring weeks came from first year of university, which you should also have unless you do a 3-year course, which is not that common here.

The main thing you actually need is to 1) get very high Leaving Cert points, most likely with HL maths and 2) figure out your top 3-5+ university choices. And 1 is going to take up most of your time by far, especially if you’re already in fifth or sixth year.

Taking the time to read a lot of books (not textbooks) around finance, investing, economics and business in general would definitely be really worthwhile, but depends on what you find enjoyable.
