Interview cancelled a day before what do I do now

Hey, writing this post in extreme anger. Just for context I’m a penultimate university student B of economics major in finance located in Sydney Australia. Pretty much applied for this winter internship at a real estate private equity got an interview they confirmed it and everything. Anyway I get a email in class saying my interview is fkn cancelled for tomorrow because “more competitive applicants applied”. Genuinely so pissed off. I know I’m gonna get negative feedback but if anyone’s been in my shoes what would your advice be for me right now?

The only reasonable advice would be to apply and interview elsewhere.
you can go to an employment feedback website like glassdoor and write an anonymous review after you are more calm - just state what happened and that's it.

You are a young guy, maybe your future is in London or NYC
Think outside the box.. make a move. Don't get stuck where you are.

Australian citizens are eligible for the E3 visa. Call people up, network, get a sponsorship.

Good luck.

I would definitely be willing to move to either city. Are you suggesting I should also finish my university studies over there as well?

Sit down and make a plan, with relevant outcomes and odds.  Speak to your advisers and family members.
Don't just quit uni if you aren't ready or can't fund studies abroad.

The finance world is bigger in the cities listed above, and young skilled people like you would be a welcome addition. But it's not without challenges, especially CoL, admin/visa tasks, patience and lots of networking. You will be fine, you will make it.

PM me if you have any questions at all.

Nothing to do but move on to the next one. Shit happens. Can't take it personally or expend the headspace to care about this sort of stuff.

If you are willing to move, let them know.  It doesn't hurt to make a final pitch or just ask the interviewer or someone you can make a connection with at the company to coffee or lunch.  Pick their brain about how they started and see if they know of anything else or if they can help push you through to the original job.

Hey mate, just a general heads up maybe don’t post with your full real name wanting to smash an interviewers head in… might not be a good look.
