Interview in London, but European language requirement…

Hello Monkeys, Hope all is well. I'm attending an assessment centre late next week for a S&T role on the client facing side. The job description states fluency in German and while I was born in Germany, have German parents, and have an A-Level in the language, I feel I could not realistically discuss economics or markets in said language. Will the AC be in English given the role is based in London or will there be an expectation to answer questions in German? Could I perhaps explain that I am fluent to conversational and am currently enhancing my ability to reach business proficiency - then continue the interview in English? Cheers!

Is this anecdotal or personal experience?

Depends. You will most likely interview with German folks, and they can interview in whatever language they want.

This is reassuring.

I've looked up the team on LinkedIn etc and have noticed they are almost all german - including attending german universities. I also imagine sales is heavily relationship based and so being able to 'talk shop' in a client's native tongue may be something that is essential.
If they did for example 'test' my German aptitude, would I be able to sort of shift the language back to English by highlighting my experiences being almost entirely in London?
