Interviewer not returning call

So I interviewed with a boutique IM firm. It went well imo. I asked the guy if I could call back a week later, and he said that would be fine.

So yesterday was a week later. I called and left a message saying I would like to catch up and get an update on the decision. I called today but didn't leave a message this time. I sent an email saying thanks the day after my interview.

Has anyone ever had this experience? I'm hoping he's still debating my candidacy, but I'm worried he's just too puss to say I didn't get it. Could this be the situation?

Would it be ok to call again or is that too desperate?

Friend had this experience and he still got an offer. They said they would get back to him a week later but it ended up being two weeks. A lot of boutiques either have very limited HR or none at all. Bankers are busy and often have more important/pressing things to deal with than getting back to you. Stop calling every day after 1 week. They will get back to you, give it time.

I'll say it once and I'll say it again, find him on FB and go to his house

Yes. And to add it: follow him from his house to the streets, his office, and even to the toilets. Keep bugging him. Pretty sure he will be very impressed with your dedication.

Not to forget sleeping outside his house at nights.

Don't forget to update us about how it goes.

I've worked in lower-mm PE for a while. We run lean and don't have big hr functions and real deadlines for hiring, probably similar to this boutique AM shop. HR is actually more of a function of not making the partners deal with the health insurance company or adp and is handled by a mix of accounting and the office manager. But I digress: I have identified a hire early in the interview process, told them I'll get back in a set amount of time but decided to interview more people just to see what's out there, then had a deal or portfolio related issue or last minute travel come up and guess who doesn't hear back in a week? At this point on a holiday weekend wait until late Tuesday or Wednesday to email again. I suppose you could go old school and do a hand written thank you note but I'd just wait. It sucks when you're in that position and it makes you feel like the zit faced 13 year old waiting for the girl to return your call (or text in today's world, but I'm old enough that cell phones cost $4000 when I was a teen) but it happens.
