Interviewing with offer accepted

wanting to move from SF bulge bracket (group specific) to NYC bulge bracket (would have to network to get on the team). The NYC firm.group is my dream place, but the SF place is equally good and strong. Is it okay to interview with the NYC place even with an accepted offer in hand and on the slim chance I get an offer, do people turn down accepted offers?

I'm sorry, I definitely don't want to come off that way at all! I do think there's a big difference between SF and NYC banking and the NYC place was my dream just because i really like the specific industry team, so that's why i'm just looking for insights.

I don't know how many interns the group you mentioned takes but I'd assume it isn't a lot. I would recommend removing this or being a bit more vague ASAP just in case.

No worries man - good luck with your interviews! And maybe someone with a better perspective than me can add some more advice, but I would maybe see if you could leverage your offer to get a group specific offer at your dream bank. I would assume that the firm considers it a competing offer.

Reneging from one BB to another is pretty dangerous. If this had been like MM to BB it would be understandable but this could turn out very badly for you. If I were you I wouldn't interview

Why not just go through the interview process? If you get an offer from the bank in NYC and end up reneging, just don’t be an idiot and make a post on linkedin blasting it to everyone. Of course make sure to be courteous and don’t mention the bank you’re going to when telling the one in SF, just be as vague and as general as possible.

I reneged and know multiple people in my year and above that have reneged and no one ever got fucked over. Be smart and you’ll be fine.
