Investor Relations Exit Opps?
So heres a brief background..
Non-target (state school top 50 though), rising senior, mediocre GPA, worked 1 summer in S&T directly on the street, lots of extracurricular's. 5 year outlook is buy-side, PM, S&T, or ER.
Been marketing, cold calling, cold emailing, and networking like a mad man. I have had a few bites but nothing insane.
I have an interview for an IR Intern position at a large public company. What im curious is how are the exit opps for a position like this. Since I already have S&T experience I feel like adding this will help me see an entire new side of the markets and will help me appear more well rounded.
I have 1 boutique IB offer, large deal flow and a great CV, but its a small firm, not structured and pay is based on deal involvement and only if the deal closes.
Looking for some insight since this isn't really something I have ever thought about doing.
Thanks in advance.
Please take the IB boutique offer, had some friends do IR and bounced out of there fast cause they realized they wouldn't gain much from it
Interested in hearing more about why your friends left so quickly. I remember on another thread, many people were touting the benefits of IR and that it was underrated.
He basically realized he was mostly a middleman between the company and outsiders and wasn't really developing technical skills like he wanted to
I suppose to clarify though, this also depends on OPs goals. If he's tryna get a more technical skill set, it would make zero sense to not take the IB offer
