What do you mean by this? A big deal in what sense? In terms of getting a job? Yes having an internship is incredibly important to getting a job in an extremely competitive field such as finance.
Yeah, these days most banks (at least most BBs) keep their interns and don't do much full-time recruiting outside of that.
