Is it a Bad Idea to Get A Friend A Job?

I have a very close friend who has been with me through the worst period in my life when I almost died and lost half my friends. Love him like a brother. He is now a senior at my UG university and having a hard time finding a job (no relevant internship experience or club involvement). He is majoring in data science and interested in that fields.

I am wondering if there would be any downside - either to our relationship or to my career - if I connect him with some recruiters. Through some organizations and family I have a large network for my age (12 MDs/partners, 3 C-suite execs at F500, 15 VPs, etc). Clearly there is only so much I can do since he is not interested in finance so half of the connections are not useful.

Do you think it would be weird if I sat down with him and asked if he wanted me to call my family and connections to get him some interviews? I am betting I could set up 7 phone calls and 2 interviews.

I honestly don't know if this would come off as nice or off-putting.
