Is it possible to remotely work in a Wall Street firm?

I bet that sounds weird but let me explain. I'm a 26-year-old guy that lives in Greece and loves researching companies and investing in them. Although I'd love to come and work in the US, I can't because of family-related reasons.

Do you know if there's a way for me to get a research or research related job in a US investment firm through the internet and work with them remotely?

Working Remotely For Wall Street

It is not impossible to work remotely for Wall Street however, it’s pretty rare. In the occasional situations when it happens, the person has worked for the firm a while and has proven their worth. Essentially, you would need to be able to demonstrate to the firm that it is better for the firm to allow you to work from home than to lose you. Without significant experience and status, this is not likely.

I'm currently making a living as a Seeking Alpha contributor and I make around $1300 per month (in Greece this is a medium-range salary). Unfortunately, my resume is weak at best since my Management & Business Administration degree from a local university is worthless compared to what you guys study in the US.

I have a little experience (two years and a half) as a stockbroker but that's about it. Unfortunately, I don't have a CFA certificate but that will be done soon enough.
I'm mostly self-taught in US accounting and have a solid grasp about how to invest and allocate capital correctly. I have managed to do well in managing my portfolio over the last years. More specifically with a long-only and zero leverage approach, I managed a 40% cumulative return for the past 18 months investing only in US-based companies (I can provide proof for the performance and the methodology).

User @Eddie Braverman offered the follow encouragement regarding an alternative option.

It sounds like you'd be better served by starting a subscription-based newsletter and charging people for research. If you're making $1,300 a month on Seeking Alpha, you clearly have an audience. Time to convert them to paying customers.

P.S. If any of you guys is coming in Athens, Greece any time soon it would be great to meet up for coffee or launch, if you want to and have the time available.

I suppose anything is possible but I would say its extremely unlikely. While some people do work remotely (my boss actually lives 1.5 hours from our office, so he works from a small office near his house 2-3 days per week), generally you need to prove that it's better for the firm to allow you to work from home than it is to lose you. At your age and experience level thats not going to be the case.
