Hi Everyone.
I will graduate this December (2019) and have a full time offer in BVal for one of the Big 4 accounting firms (I am an accounting major). I am working on making the transition into more finance type rolls, hence the BVal position instead of audit/tax.
My question is, my start date is not until Summer 2020. Is it worth it to study, take, and pass the CPA exam prior to me starting to work. It is not required for me to be a CPA in BVal, but I am wondering if down the road it will make me more respected or a better candidate for other jobs.
Depends on what you want to do when you say "finance type roles*" i.e. ER, HF, CF, IB, PE etc.
I have started to see IB roles with tons of former CPAs. Know an EB that consists of mostly former CPAs/eligible CPAs.
CPA really doesn't matter for most finance roles tbh.
I have a long term goal of getting in with a VC firm, but I am not sure my best route there.
I'm no expert on VC, but startup or IB experience(TMT group) could be decent places to start after Val
Only if you want to be an accountant and want to do accounting work. However, you can get your ABV, but you need your CPA first.
