Is it worth lateraling from west coast top MM to NY BB/EB for UMM PE and better MBA prospects

Recruiting for NY PE will heavily discount my looks/ opportunities. Is it worth doing another year of banking for better exits. Really interested in UMM PE and can’t see myself staying on the west coast for 4 years.

Because I did it (title hasn’t updated so ignore the An1).

I lateraled from MM LA to top EB and group. My looks didn’t change for recruiting. Haven’t gone to business school yet but don’t think that will change much either.

I think it is a pretty big myth that you need to be at GS/MS/JPM to get MF looks. I got plenty at both the MM and the EB. If you interview well I would say moving in this environment would be quite foolish. It takes a lot of effort to move and your work quality may decline and you don’t want to be at the bottom if layoffs hit again. Just be the best analyst you can be and learn how to interview. You will get interviews. I really regret spending all of the money and time moving when I could have done everything from where I started. The grass isn’t always greener and I unfortunately had to learn the hard way
