Is this hiring environment “normal”?
What I’m asking is, as I’m too young to remember, is this what the hiring market was like pre-COVID? And the hiring spree during COVID was an anomaly and the environment we’re currently navigating is normal

the trump years were 1000x better. so much hiring and general optimism in the economy and in business.
last 2 years of obamas presidency things improved as well. but 2016 things really took off
I’ve also new to the industry but based on my conversation with people who started in banking 6-7 yrs ago, this hiring environment isn’t normal it’s not as bad as 09 but also not great or close to average. Lateral market is almost dead rn, and even people aren’t landing any offers during OCR even for non-IB roles
