Job Search Advice - Recommendations?

Can someone give me some recommendation. At this site, I see mostly people coming from Top business school, or have solid finance experience, and the jobs are very competitive, and even looked at Doostang and it is quite similar.

I graduated from Monmouth University from NJ with Major in Finance and minored in Accounting with a G.P.A of 3.2, and did my MBA with concentration in Finance from University of New Haven from CT with a G.P.A of 3.5.

After that I worked at a mid-sized Tech company as a Financial Analyst dealing with various roles in Accounting, corporate finance, Tax and business analysis. Recently I got an unique opportunity at a consulting role at Bloomberg. I worked at Fixed Income department in the Capital Market, dealing with Short-term and Long- Term Debt in the Nasdaq and Russell 2000 market. Currently, my project ended and I am unemployed. I am actively looking for a junior analyst or entry level job in either a small or mid-sized firm in either Asset Management, Hedge Fund, Investment Banking or Advisory firms in the salary range of 40-60K.

My Job search strategies as follows: 1) I have been trying to email my Alumni school, unfortunately they really do not have lot of connection. 2) Using LinkedIn to network. 3) Calling Head-hunters 4) I have database of all investment firms around 1000 firms from large to small cap firms around the tri-state area, I email my resume and cover letters to HR. 5) I even tried using Cold Call approach.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated..

atish, work on your grammar and keep plugging away. brush up on your finance interview questions, look at certain roles in the accounting industry as well (ie Alvarez's corporate finance consulting practice, AlixPartners Restructuring or Litigation Consulting practice).

keep doing what you're doing.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.
