Job Search Strategy Help

In May I graduated from a non/semi-target with no FT offer. My experience includes an 2 boutique/middle market Investment Banking internships. I am currently back at my parents place in Asia for the summer, but my goal is to find an IB position in NYC. Originally, I was planning on flying to NYC in late July and finding a place and living there for 6months or so and looking for a job while actually being in the city.

However, I ended up getting a minor surgery and will not be able to get back stateside until late September. As we have a small condo in the Midwest that's already paid for, I was considering flying there and using it as a base to apply for jobs in NYC and other big cities where I would prefer to work.

Does anyone have any advice or recommendations as to how I should approach my search process?
