Just got rejected on workday, but I have a call coming up with a Program Lead?

Hi all,

I have been networking really hard with a particular bank in the US for a credit role (think Huntington, M&T, PNC, US Bank for corporate banking, public finance, loan and bond underwriting type roles) and have been really successful - I have so far spoken with about 15 people at analyst - associate/senior associate level and two VPs, and I have another call with a Development program lead coming up.

I just got rejected on workday, but all of the calls I have had have been incredibly positive and people respond to my thank you notes saying that they referred me and other things like "lets get coffee once you're an intern" things like that which they could prob get in trouble for haha.

Of course, I am going to take this call and do my best to show him that I am interested, but since my application has closed and I have been rejected, is all hope lost? Is HR the end all be all? It's really disappointing since I have put in a lot of effort for this firm and I really like the people.

Any guidance or reassurance on where to go from here would be great. I am really going to try to make sure this call goes smoothly like the rest have been, but other than that do I have to wait until next year to apply again? Could I still potentially get an internship offer for this summer or am I done for?

Thanks for reading.

You should probably tell someone on the team if you really connected with them. This happened to me before (I didn't pass the Hirevue) but was pushed anyways to the superday. All this to say, there is still hope!
